LEXINGTON, Ky. – Newly-appointed University of Kentucky women’s soccer head coach Troy Fabiano has announced the addition of transfers Hailey Farrington-Bentil and Taya Hjorth to the Wildcats’ roster beginning in January 2022.

“We are thrilled to have Hailey and Taya join our program and are excited to welcome them to Lexington this spring,” said Fabiano. “They are both skilled players who will be assets to our existing roster, but more importantly, they are exceptional people who will fit into the team culture we are trying to create. They both want to make an impact on and off the pitch as we move forward together as a team, and I am confident they will.”

Farrington-Bentil will arrive in Lexington as a graduate transfer following a four-year career at Mississippi State. The forward appeared in 64 games during her time with the Bulldogs, recording nine goals and dishing out seven assists. She was tied for first on the team this past season with three goals and nine points.

A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Farrington-Bentil earned her degree from MSU earlier this month and is a three-time Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll selection.

Also joining the Wildcats this spring is Hjorth, a defender who spent her redshirt freshman season with 2021 national champion Florida State. The Commerce Township, Michigan native attended Walled Lake Central High School where she was named to the all-region team as a freshman.

Hjorth also led her club team, Michigan Jaguars FC, to back-to-back state titles in 2017 and 2018.
