Cats Drop SEC Road Opener at No. 10 TAMU

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – No. 16 Kentucky (11-2, 1-1 Southeastern Conference) dropped its SEC road opener with a 6-1 loss to No. 10 Texas A&M (6-1, 2-0 SEC) on Tuesday at Mitchell Tennis Center. The defeat was Kentucky’s second at the hands of a top-10 opponent away from home this season.
 
Fifth-year Wildcat César Bourgois earned his first individual ranked win of the season, beating No. 33 Carlos Aguilar 6-3, 6-1 on the third court for the first singles point of the day.
 
In his third matchup with a top-six opponent this season, sophomore No. 45 Liam Draxl suffered his first singles loss. The reigning SEC Co-Player of the Week fell 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 to No. 4 Valentin Vacherot on the top court.
 
Kentucky will continue its three-match road stretch with another ranked battle, taking on No. 23 Alabama (8-4, 0-2 SEC) on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
