Kentucky Cross Country Schedule Announced

by Jake Most

LEXINGTON, Kentucky – The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s cross country teams have announced the 2020 schedule, with three meets leading to the Southeastern Conference Championships.

The Wildcat lidlifter will be at a familiar destination — the Commodore Classic, on Sept. 19 at Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tenn.  Another familiar site follows on Oct. 3, E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park, for the Greater Louisville Classic.

The regular season concludes Oct. 16 at the UAB Blazer Classic, which will be run at Veterans Park in Hoover, Alabama. LSU will play host to the annual SEC Championships, which will take place Oct. 30 at Highland Road Park.

All men’s races this season are slated for 8,000 meters. The women’s races are 6k, with the exception of the Louisville Classic, which is a 5k.

The teams are guided by head coach Lonnie Greene and assistant coach Hakon DeVries. The coaches will have plenty of experience returning from last season.  The UK men, who finished fourth at the 2019 SEC Championships held in Lexington, return four of the five runners who competed that day – Trevor Warren, Dylan Allen, Aaron Withrow and Patrick Schaefer.  The UK women placed seventh at the SEC meet, and all five of those runners are back for this season, including Perri Bockrath, Kaylie Kenne, Rachel Boice, Kaitlyn Lacy and Sophie Carrier.
