Kentucky Seeks to Keep Momentum Going at No. 1 Alabama

Kentucky seeks its third consecutive victory when it travels to top-ranked Alabama for a Saturday night date with the Crimson Tide. It will be the Wildcats’ first trip to Tuscaloosa since 2008 and only the third appearance in Bryant-Denny Stadium in the past 20 years.

The Wildcats scored an impressive 17-10 win over South Carolina last Saturday, turning in an inspired defensive effort in holding the Gamecocks to just 268 total yards and registering a game-sealing sack in the closing moments. The win pulled UK back to .500 on the season and marked the third consecutive win over its Southeastern Conference Eastern Division rival.
Offensively, running backs Stanley “Boom” Williams and Benny Snell Jr. churned their way to 196 yards and two touchdowns, closing the Gamecocks out with a game-winning fourth quarter scoring drive that featured 11 consecutive running plays.

Mark Stoops pulled no punches last Wednesday.
Kentucky’s defense had just turned in a practice effort that left him fuming, so he let the Wildcats know about it.
“I believe they heard what I said on Wednesday,” Stoops said. “I wanted them to hear that because it was true.”
Difficult as the message was to hear, it may have been exactly what the doctor ordered. UK’s performance on Saturday in a critical win over South Carolina suggests as much.
