Each week, Wildcats in the Pros catches up with some former Kentucky student-athletes who are doing big things in professional athletics.

Tennessee Titans linebacker and former Wildcat Avery Williamson had nine total tackles in Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders. Despite Williamson’s efforts, the Titans lost 17-10. Williamson and another former Wildcat, Wesley Woodyard, will lead the Titans against the Houston Texans on Sunday. 

Former Wildcat and current Green Bay Packers receiver Randall Cobb, had just one catch on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Cobb had 33 yards receiving in a 34-27 Packers’ victory. Cobb and the Packers will have next week off before facing the New York Giants in Week 5.

Former Kentucky tight end Jacob Tamme had three catches for 28 yards on Monday Night Football against the New Orleans Saints. Tamme, a native of Danville, Kentucky, has 126 yards receiving through Week 3, which is 22 yards ahead of where he was last season. The Falcons face the Carolina Panthers in Week 4.

Holmes Ready for Ryder Cup

J.B. Holmes finished his final round of the TOUR Championship Sunday at East Lake Golf Course with an even par, placing him 27th in the final event of the PGA Tour regular season.

The former Wildcat now turns his attention to the Ryder Cup, which begins Friday, at the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. The Ryder Cup, which is played every other year, matches the best golfers from the United States against the top golfers from Europe in a team competition. Holmes made the team as a captain’s pick by U.S. Captain Davis Love, III.

The last time Holmes played in the Ryder Cup was 2008, which was also the last time United States won the competition. Holmes, Love and the rest of the U.S. team are hoping that the former Wildcat can bring the same magic to this year’s squad.

Paxton Gets Fifth Win

Former Wildcat pitcher James Paxton had a solid outing for the Seattle Mariners on Friday night, picking up his fifth win of the season in the process.

Paxton pitched seven strong innings, allowing just one run and five hits while striking out nine Minnesota Twins in a 10-1 win.

The left-hander is now 5-7 in 2016, with a 3.72 ERA.
