Junior tight end Jacob Tamme will be featured as the SEC Community Service Team Player of the Week during Saturday?s Lincoln Financial Sports telecast of the Kentucky-Tennessee game.
Tamme (Danville, Ky.) serves as outreach chairman for the Kentucky football team and has been very active in the ?Cats That Care? service program during his years as a Wildcat. A sampling of his many community service efforts include numerous speaking engagements at schools; speaking at football camps and team banquets; visits to the UK Children?s Hospital and Veterans? Administration Hospital; delivering meals at St. Peter and Paul Church; participating in the American Heart Walk; and serving as a mentor at Boyle Middle School.
Earlier this season, Tamme was one of only 11 Division I-A players named to the Good Works Team selected nationally by the American Football Coaches Association.
On the field, Tamme is in his second season as starting tight end for Kentucky. He has caught 21 passes for 207 yards and one touchdown in helping lead the Wildcats to a 7-4 record.
In the classroom, Tamme completed his bachelor?s degree in Integrated Strategic Communications in only three years and is working on his master?s in business administration. He earned a spot on the Academic All-District IV Team and is currently going through balloting for Academic All-America.
