Caleb Brock, a senior catcher on the University of Kentucky baseball team, was named to the SouthEastern Baseball Summer All-Southeastern Conference Team, as released by SEBaseball.com Monday. The team is made up of 14 SEC student-athletes who participated in various amateur summer baseball leagues in 2002.

The Whitesburg, Ky., native saw action in 39 games and batted .339 (38-for-112) with one home run and 16 RBIs for Delaware (Ohio) of the Great Lakes League. Brock’s senior season was cut short after 10 games when he suffered a broken left foot in a March 1 game vs. Miami (Ohio). The fifth-year senior was issued a medical redshirt in 2001 after hitting .300 (9-for-30) with four doubles and three RBIs. His best day at the plate was a 3-for-3, two-double performance in a 5-4 win over Pepperdine in the Texas A&M Aggie Baseball Classic on Feb. 23.

Brock is one of five seniors that will return to the Wildcats’ dugout for Coach Keith Madison’s 25th season in the Bluegrass. The 107th year of UK baseball will begin on the road in the Stetson Tournament at Deland, Fla., on Feb. 14, 2003.
