A total of six current and former University of Kentucky baseball players were named to the 2002 Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll the league office announced on Monday, May 20.

Austin Madison (3.38 GPA, Communication) repeated his honor from last season, while Seth Morris (3.50 GPA, Finance), Brad Pickrell (3.17 GPA, Finance), Vincent Harrison (3.00 GPA, Management), Joel Gooch (3.32 GPA, Kinesiology), and Lance McKinster (3.00 GPA, Finance) made the list for the first time.

Morris and Pickrell recently finished their junior seasons at UK. Morris hit .265 in 53 games and led the Wildcats in slugging percentage (.505), RBI (42), triples (3), home runs (12) and total bases (101). Pickrell split time at second base and shortstop this season and registered a .257 clip in 48 games played. The Lexington, Ky., native paced the club in stolen bases (8) and finished second in runs scored (32).

The 2002 SEC Baseball Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2000-01 academic calendar. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for their career. In addition, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher in terms of academic classification and have 24 semester or 36 quarter hours toward a degree.
