Annika Williams wins Pent, Wildcats Sweep 200m Day One at the McCravy

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Annika Williams won her pentathlon season opener and Karimah Davis and Dwight St. Hillaire swept victories in the 200 meters on the first night of the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet inside Nutter Field House. 

Seventeen Wildcats qualified for the next round of 60m dash and 60m hurdles races to go off on Saturday between noon and 12:30 p.m., followed by finals from 1:00-1:15 p.m. 
 
Saturday’s events start at 9:30 a.m. with the heptathlon 60m hurdles, and conclude with the men’s 4x400m relay at 3:30 p.m. 
 
Saturday’s events can be streamed live on SEC Network+ starting at noon and will also contain highlights from Friday’s competition. 

Williams dominated the field portion of the pentathlon program winning three of the five events, taking top spot in the high jump, shot put and long jump and totaling 3,882 points. That mark put her at No. 12 on the TFRRS Division I descending order list of best performances so far this season, as of Friday. 

Davis won the women’s 200m with a time of 23.77. 

St. Hillaire won the men’s 200m in 20.85, which is a season best. Myle Anders was third in 21.15. 

Kentucky’s women’s distance medley relay of Jenna Gearing, Megan Moss, Jenna Schwinghamer and Tori Herman was the runner-up with a time of 11:01.81 moving them to No. 3 on the UK all-time list. 

Abby Steiner was the top qualifier in the 60m (7.20), Masai Russell was the second-fastest in the 60m hurdles (8.13), as was Tai Brown in the men’s 60m hurdles (7.90) and Myles Anders had the top time for UK in the men’s 60m (6.70). 

UK’s men’s DMR of Dylan Allen, Kenroy Williams, Alex Justus and Harper Moore were third with a time of 9:46.25. 

Molly Leppelmeier was runner-up in the weight throw with a mark of 69’11″/21.31m. Jade Gates and Simi Akinrinsola were third and fourth respectively. 

Robbie Springfield took second place in the men’s long jump with a mark of 25’2.5″/7.68m. 

Jacob Sobota is in fourth place after the four day-one-events of the men’s heptathlon.

Fans: What You Need to Know 

Admission is free. Masks are required. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, in order the create the safest possible meet experience, only essential personnel will be permitted on the track and in the infield. Those permitted inside non-spectator areas include student-athletes, coaches and support personnel, officials and Kentucky staff as well as public safety officials. 

Fans may watch the meet from the bleachers and a roped-off area on the west side of Nutter Field House to watch the meet. 

Free parking for the indoor meets will be available in the Green Lot adjacent to Nutter Field House and Kroger Field on Friday and Saturday. 

Fans are urged to access parking lots from Cooper Drive or University Drive as College Way is seeing increased traffic due to community COVID testing. 

Concessions will also be available.
