LEXINGTON, Ky. — The University of Kentucky women’s cross country team has been ranked in the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Top 30 at 27 in the fifth poll released for the 2021 season. This is the first time in the modern USTFCCCA ranking/polling era that the women’s team has been ranked in the top 30.

The last time the women were ranked was when they finished 31st in the final 2008 USTFCCCA ranking.

Before this week’s rankings, the women’s team received votes in all but one of this season’s rankings, but had never reached the Top 30 until now.

The top 31 Division I teams after NCAA Regionals will be sent to the 2021 NCAA Championships on Saturday, November 20th in Tallahassee, Florida.

The Wildcats earned this ranking through an impressive performance at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational, beating five ranked teams in their eighth place team finish.

Tori Herman led the Wildcats in South Bend, finishing 21st in the women’s blue race out of 192 runners in 16:43.4.

Next up for Kentucky cross country is Pre-Nationals/the Florida State Invitational in Tallahassee, Florida on Friday, October 15.
