Knight, Duncan, Lane Set for U.S. Olympic Diving Trials
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – One hundred of the nation’s top divers will participate in the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials from June 6-13 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana, including Kyndal Knight, Sam Duncan, and Chase Lane.
While the meet began on June 6 with the preliminary and semifinal rounds of the women’s synchronized 3-meter springboard, the first event featuring a Wildcat will be on June 8.
Knight will compete on the women’s 3-meter springboard beginning at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday, and Lane will see action on the men’s platform with prelims set for 12:10 p.m. ET. Duncan qualified for the men’s 3-meter springboard, which will be held on June 9 at 10 a.m. ET.
The top 18 divers will advance to semifinals following prelims with the top 12 then moving on to finals. The top two divers per individual event during finals will make the team for Tokyo.
Semifinals and finals on June 8-11 will broadcast on the Olympic Channel, while finals on June 12-13 will air on NBC. All non-televised events will be streamed at NBCOlympics.com.
Knight is a six-time SEC Championship finalist, most notably winning the 3-meter during her sophomore season in 2020. She is also a two-time NCAA finalist and a three-time All-American honoree. The Stanley, North Carolina, native was named the SEC Co-Female Freshman Diver of the Year in 2019.
A recent graduate out of Tallahassee, Florida, Lane recorded nine top-8 finishes at the SEC Championships during his career, highlighted by back-to-back second-place finishes on the platform in 2019 and 2020. He was twice named an All-American in 2020 and was the 2018 SEC Male Freshman Diver of the Year.
Hailing from Oakton, Virginia, Duncan dove to eighth on the 3-meter at the 2021 SEC Championships during his freshman campaign. He qualified for the NCAA Championships on the 1-meter and landed a spot on the All-SEC Freshman Team.
Both Knight and Lane were also members of the 2020 USA Diving High Performance Squad.
