Senior Day Highlights Final Home Weekend Series
Kentucky’s final march toward a potential postseason bid continues this weekend when No. 20 South Carolina arrives at Kentucky Proud Park, as both teams are looking to solidify their standing and register a critical series victory.
First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET and the game will be streamed live on the SEC Network Plus and the WatchESPN app. The UK Sports Network will broadcast the game via radio on 630 AM (WLAP) Lexington and on UKAthletics.com, with Darren Headrick on the call. Dick Gabriel and Doug Flynn have the live stream call. Saturday is a 2 p.m. start and Sunday at 1 p.m. first pitch.
The Wildcats (27-17, 11-13 SEC) are coming off a gut-wrenching weekend that saw them claim the first game against No. 8 Florida and come within a strike of winning the series in game two. Instead, the Cats dropped the series and will need to finish strong over the final two weeks of the regular season to enhance their NCAA Tournament hopes.
An additional element to the weekend is Saturday will serve as the program’s Senior Day. The Cats will say goodbye to T.J. Collett, Zach Kammin, Zeke Lewis and Jaren Shelby with a pregame ceremony. All other seniors could still return to UK for the 2022 season due to eligibility relief from Covid-19 during the 2020 season.
