No. 20 Kentucky Sweeps No. 42 Arkansas 7-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After a nine-day, three-match Southeastern Conference road swing, No. 20 Kentucky (13-3, 3-2 SEC) returned home for a 7-0 sweep of No. 42 Arkansas (6-5, 0-2 SEC) on Friday inside Hilary J. Boone Indoor Tennis Center.
With the win, the Wildcats move to 11-0 at home this season.
The opening doubles point came down to court one, where César Bourgois and Gabriel Diallo continued their tear in the No. 1 slot with a 7-6 (7-4) clincher over Enrique Paya and Hunter Harrison of Arkansas.
Liam Draxl found himself on court No. 2 for doubles, paired up with Millen Hurrion. The powerful duo had an impressive 6-2 win in their matchup with Maxim Verboven and Avery Zavala in the first pairing to finish.
Court No. 3 turned out a loss for the Wildcats, as Yasha Zemel and Alexandre LeBlanc were unable to overcome their opponent with a 6-2 setback to the Razorbacks’ Melvin Manuel and Adrien Burdet.
On the singles court, Bourgois was the first Wildcat to finish his match. The Paris native was able to defeat Adrien Burdet 6-3, 6-4 on court No. 4.
Next, the 45th-ranked Draxl was able to take care of Verboven on court one, 6-3, 6-3. Draxl now owns a record of 13-1 on the top court this season.
Within minutes of Draxl’s win on court one, Diallo handled business on court two with a 6-1, 6-4 win to put Kentucky at the four-point threshold needed to win the match.
Hurrion ended his match with a tiebreaker win in the second set, winning 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) to advance Kentucky to a 5-0 lead ahead of its eighth sweep of the season.
The teams decided to complete the match and allow courts Nos. 5 and 6 to play on. Zemel was able to win on court five, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (13-11). Freshman Mathis Moysan also impressed in the continuation, winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 on court six.
Kentucky will stay home awaiting the arrival of its next opponent, hosting Vanderbilt (4-5, 0-4 SEC) next Friday at 6 p.m. ET.
