AUBURN, Ala. – The University of Kentucky men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams made history at the 2020 Southeastern Conference Championships, breaking 10 school records, collecting 15 medals and posting a pair of the highest conference-meet scores in school history.

The women’s team finished in third place for the third time in four years, collecting a program-record 987.5 points, and the men’s team finished in seventh place with a program-record 724 points. On the final night of the conference meet, the program collected four medals and broke two school records.

Women’s 200-yard backstroke
Asia Seidt earned the second-fastest time in the nation and an automatic qualification to the 2020 NCAA Championships, swimming the 200-yard backstroke in 1:48.86, a season best. The Louisville native collected a silver medal in the event, en route to earning a podium finish (top three) in five of her six events at the 2020 SEC Championships – all three individual events and two relay events. Earlier this week, she earned bronze medals in the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard backstroke and 400-yard medley relay and a silver medal in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
