Kentucky’s Kenny Darby Named SEC Freshman of the Week for Third Time

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following Kentucky’s 34-17 win over Vanderbilt, Wildcat wide receiver Kenny Darby has earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors, the league announced Monday. Darby has won the award three times in the last four weeks.

Darby, a 6-foot-1, 180-pounder from Bossier City, Louisiana, played a critical role in four of Kentucky’s scoring drives, including a 44-yard strike on the first possession of the second half that ended in a touchdown and an 11-point UK advantage. He finished with four receptions for 71 yards, good for 17.8 yards per catch.

Darby also won the weekly honor after victories over South Carolina and No. 10 LSU. The last Wildcat to win three SEC Freshman of the Week honors in a season was Cutter Boley in 2025.

It’s been a sensational first season for Darby through eight games. He has caught 38 passes this season, most by a UK freshman through eight games in school history. His 507 receiving yards leads the team, ranks 10th in the conference and 51st nationally. Among freshmen, Darby leads the SEC and ranks third nationally with 507 receiving yards.

The No. 9/8 Wildcats (7-1, 5-1 SEC) are idle this weekend before returning to the field Nov. 7 at No. 16/17 Tennessee. Kickoff time and television designation will be announced on Oct. 26.
