Wildcats Finish Fall Slate at Williams Cup
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Kentucky men’s golf team will visit North Carolina for the 2026 Williams Cup at Eagle Point Golf Club (par 72, 7353 yards) this Sunday through Tuesday in what will serve as the team’s final tournament of the fall season.
A stacked field of 14 teams will tee it up, including seven top 25 teams in the Scoreboard Powered by Clippd rankings, led by the No. 2 team in the nation, Auburn. The 54-hole tournament will span three days. Kentucky is paired with North Florida and Louisville for round one with tee times from 8:25 – 9:05 a.m. off hole No. 10 (par 3, 163 yards).
The Wildcats starting five will feature Cole Stockard, Jacob Lang, Cameron Phillips, Gavin Clutts and Gabriel Hull, marking the second time this season that combination has been used.
Stockard, a sophomore, has posted a team-best nine rounds at par-or-better, contributing a counting score to the team total in all 12 rounds. He owns a 71.00 scoring average on the year and had his best finish at the Visit Knox Collegiate, where he tied for 13th.
Lang enters the Williams Cup in strong form, having posted back-to-back top 20 finishes. The junior tied for sixth at the Windon Memorial Classic and followed that up by placing T18 in Lexington at the Cullan Brown Collegiate.
After sitting out the season opener, Phillips has been a major contributor in Kentucky’s last three events. He is tied with Stockard for the distinction of low scoring average at 71.00, and has placed inside the top 30 in all three of his starts this season, including a T18 result at the Cullan.
Gavin Clutts is set to make his third appearance in the starting lineup this season coming off a T12 result as an individual at the Cullan Brown Collegiate. At Lexington Country Club, Clutts finished at 1-under par to lead all UK players in a field of 88 golfers, posting the fifth top 20 of his college career.
Hull rounds out the UK lineup, making his fifth consecutive start to begin the season. The sophomore transfer from Emmanuel University has shown the ability to go low and owns the three lowest rounds in relation to par for the Wildcats this season with a 65 (-6) at the Bearcat Invitational, a 66 at the Visit Knox Collegiate (-4) and a 67 at the Cullan Brown Collegiate (-4).
The Cats’ best result thus far this fall came at the team’s most recent tournament, the Cullan Brown Collegiate, where they placed fourth at 3-over par.
UK is competing at the Williams Cup, which is hosted by the University of North Carolina, for the second consecutive year. Kentucky finished 11th a year ago at 25-over par, with Clutts, Stockard and Lang all in the lineup.
