Jacob Lang Leads Cats Through 36 Holes at Windon Memorial Classic

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Kentucky men’s golf team stands in 12th place at 14-over par after 36 holes of play on Monday at the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern at Onwentsia Club (par 70, 6716 yards). Junior Jacob Lang leads the way for the Cats at 1-under par individually.

Lang, who was 2-over par on his opening 18 holes, responded with a 3-under card of 67 in round two, propelling him into a tie for 12th in the 88-player field. The native of Alvaton, Kentucky made four birdies and an eagle in round two and was 4-under par on his homeward nine. It marked the lowest round of the season for Lang, who finished the day with eight birdies overall, tied for the seventh most in the field.

Following Lang on the leaderboard is sophomore Cole Stockard, who finds himself in a tie for 44th at 4-over par. Stockard was even par in round two, with birdies on both of Onwentsia’s par 5’s. He birdied three of the four par 5s he played on Monday. The native of Dalton, Georgia now has six rounds at par-or-better on the season, leading the team.

Cameron Phillips posted the best round one score for UK with a 71 (+1), before signing for a 74 (+4) in round two. Phillips is tied for 51st at 5-over par heading into tomorrow’s final round.

Jacob Settles and Gabriel Hull are each tied for 76th at 10-over par.

Kentucky faired well on par 3s on Monday, going just 2-over par collectively, tied for the second-best mark in the field.

Kansas leads the way after Monday’s action at 4-under par as a team. The Jayhawks were the only team in the field of 16 schools to finish under par on day one.

Cal Poly’s Frederick Egnatios and USF’s Nino Palmquist share the individual lead at 5-under par.

Round three tee times will begin at 9 a.m. ET on Tuesday.
