LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky swimming & diving Head Coach Bret Lundgaard announced the addition of Adriana Contreras as an assistant swim coach for the Kentucky Swimming and Diving program, bringing coaching experience at the NCAA Division I and club level.
“We are excited to welcome Adriana to BBN,” Lundgaard said. “She has a proven track record of making a positive impact on every program and person she works with. Her energy, professionalism, work ethic, and passion for developing student-athletes will be tremendous assets to our team and the overall experience our athletes have at Kentucky.”
Prior to Kentucky, Contreras spent the 2022–2026 seasons at the University of Nevada, where she worked primarily with the sprint and IM groups while assisting across all areas of the program.
During her time with the Wolf Pack, Nevada saw notable competitive progress, including four NCAA Championship qualifiers, 10 school records, and 40 program top 10 performances. She was also named recruiting coordinator in 2023 following the program’s 18-athlete recruiting class.
Before her time at Nevada, Contreras held multiple Division I coaching positions, serving as a volunteer assistant at UC Davis (2021–2022) and working at the University of the Pacific as an assistant coach (2018–2019) and director of operations (2017–2018). Her club coaching experience includes serving as a national group coach at DART Swimming (2019–2022), where she primarily led sprint training and guided athletes to national, junior national, futures, and sectional levels. She also worked with senior-level athletes at Lodi Swim Club (2018–2019) and age group swimmers at Tiger Aquatics (2015–2018).
Contreras is also actively involved with USA Swimming, contributing to national team development initiatives and coach education efforts. She serves on the USA Swimming Sports Medicine Committee and has supported multiple national camps and leadership programs, including the 2026 National Diversity Select Camp, National Diversity Select Camp (2024) as manager, Southern Regional Diversity Camp (2022) as head coach, Central Zone Diversity Camp (2020) as assistant coach, National Diversity Camp (2019) as assistant coach, Western Zone Select Camp (2017) as assistant manager, Western Zone Diversity Camp (2018) as assistant coach, as well as participation in the 2019 USA Swimming Leadership Summit and LSC Leadership Summit.
