Joe Miday Named CSCCA Master Strength and Conditioning Coach

Joe Miday, University of Kentucky football assistant performance coach, has been named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. He was given the award at the 2026 Annual National Conference of CSCCa, held in Fort Worth on May 5.
Currently, there are only 380 individuals who have received this level of certification and the corresponding title of distinction. This is the highest honor that can be achieved as a strength and conditioning coach, representing professionalism, knowledge, experience and expertise, as well as longevity in the field. To earn the distinguished status, a strength and conditioning coach must be an active member of the CSCCa, be strength and conditioning coach certified and a full-time collegiate and/or professional strength and conditioning coach for a minimum of 12 years.
Miday joined the Wildcats’ performance staff in January after spending two years as the strength and conditioning coach at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Ky., where he developed and implemented all strength training, speed development and injury mitigation programs for the lacrosse and baseball teams.
Before Bellarmine, Miday spent five seasons (2014–18) as the director of strength and conditioning for the University of Louisville football program. During his tenure, the Cardinals advanced to four consecutive bowl games and in 2016, finished 9-4 overall, 7-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, earning a share of the ACC Atlantic Division championship. He also played an instrumental role in the development of Lamar Jackson, 2016 Heisman Trophy winner and two-time ACC Player of the Year.
Miday spent the 2013 season as the director of football strength and conditioning at Western Kentucky. In his lone season, he helped guide the Hilltoppers to an 8-4 overall record.
Prior to his time at WKU, Miday spent six seasons on the strength and conditioning staff at Marshall, including the final two as the head strength and conditioning coach. He began his collegiate career with the Thundering Herd as a graduate assistant in 2007 before being elevated to a full-time strength and conditioning coach from 2008–11. In January 2011, he was promoted to associate head strength and conditioning coach, and later that year, in September, he was named the director of football strength and conditioning for Marshall.
Beginning his coaching career in the collegiate ranks, Miday started as a baseball coach and strength coach at Stow-Munroe Falls High in Akron, Ohio, while teaching algebra and geometry at Akron East High. After coaching his team to an undefeated season in 2004, Miday accepted a position as the health coordinator for the Akron Community Health Center. He oversaw patient nutrition, health education, and daily exercise and rehab programs for more than 8,000 patients yearly.
