UK Track and Field to Play Host for Kentucky Relays on Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky will conclude the 2016 outdoor track and field regular season by hosting the annual Kentucky Relays on Saturday at the UK outdoor track and field complex.
Kentucky will look to continue the momentum of its outdoor season in this the final weekend of the regular season.
College events – beginning with the 5,000 meters — will begin at 10 a.m.
Kentucky will go through senior day ceremonies at approximately 4:05 p.m. The 4x400m relays are scheduled to begin at 4:20 p.m. and the high-school relays are expected to conclude the meet at approximately 4:40 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for adults (ages 19-64) and $2 for youth and seniors (ages 3-18, 65 and older).
Spectator parking is available in the E-lot adjacent to the the track and Cliff Hagan Stadium, the new c-8 lot perpendicular to the track’s home stretch and Parking Structure No. 7 (vouchers will be needed).
The Wildcats have steadily improved throughout the spring, and the women’s team is ranked No. 1 in this week’s United States Track & Field and Cross Coaches Association computer rankings. Kentucky is ranked No. 8 in this week’s FloTrack rankings.
Many of UK’s top athletes are likely to sit out Saturday’s competition to rest up for the postseason, which begins next weekend.
Freshman Jasmine Camacho-Quinn was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week on Tuesday.
Quinn is the second Wildcat to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors this outdoor season. Kianna Gray picked up the accolade on April 5. Quinn was named SEC Runner of the Week – which all SEC athletes are eligible for regardless of year in school – on March 22.
Kentucky will travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for the SEC Championships May 12-14.
