No. 18 Kentucky Hosts Morehead State in Home Opener
Coming off a dominating opening weekend sweep No. 18 Kentucky returns to Lexington host Morehead State in its home opener on Tuesday at Kentucky Proud Park.
First pitch is set for 4 p.m. ET and the game can be seen live on SECN+ or listened to on the UK Sports Network.
In a twist of fate, Morehead native Chase Alderman will return from missing the past two seasons due to arm and knee injuries to make the start against his hometown team. Alderman last pitched for Eastern Kentucky in 2023.
The Wildcats cruised to a weekend sweep of UNC Greensboro over the weekend, batting .346 as a team with 14 extra base hits and 23 stolen bases in as many attempts. UK ranks behind only VMI – who typically leads the country each year in stolen bases.
On the mound, UK’s starting pitching was sensational. The trio of Jaxon Jelkin, Ben Cleaver and Nate Harris combined for 12.0 innings (they each were on a pitch count), allowing eight hits and one run. They struck out 22 and did not walk a single batter.
