Kentucky STUNT Sweeps Two Games on Friday
SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Kentucky STUNT team earned two wins on Friday, topping Arizona State and Texas Woman’s University in the Oklahoma Baptist STUNT Tournament. The Cats beat the Sun Devils 33-12, then UK topped TWU 28-11 in the nightcap.
In Friday’s first match, UK took control early, winning the first point in the first quarter, partner stunts. The Cats would claim at least one point on each of the four routines and took a 6-2 lead after one period. Kentucky would outscore Arizona State 6-2 in the second quarter, pyramids and tosses, and the Cats took a 12-4 lead into the half.
The third period, jumps and tumbling, saw UK extend its lead even further. After the teams tied on the first two routines, the Cats took the point on the final two and held a comfortable 16-6 lead heading into the final stanza. In the fourth quarter, team routine, the Cats outscored the Sun Devils 17-6 to secure the victory.
Kentucky (6-0) faced Texas Woman’s University for the first time in Friday’s second game. The Cats again took control early, winning three of four points in the first quarter to lead 3-1. In quarter two, UK took five points compared to just three for TWU. Kentucky took an 8-4 lead into the half.
In the third quarter, the Cats outscored the Pioneers 5-3, and UK took a 13-7 lead into the fourth quarter. Kentucky emphatically put the game away in that final stanza, outscoring TWU 15-4 to seal the win.
Kentucky returns to action on Saturday, facing Michigan State at 11:20 a.m., then Oklahoma Baptist at 1:40 p.m. ET.
