Kentucky Places Four on CSC Academic All-District Team

Four Kentucky football players were selected to 2025 Division I Academic All-District, the College Sports Communicators announced. Offensive lineman Joshua Braun, defensive back Ty Bryant, tight end Josh Kattus and punter Aidan Laros each earned the honor for their efforts in the classroom.

Bryant, Kattus and Laros were honored for the second year in a row. Criteria included at least a 3.50 grade point average and significant playing time. Bryant and Kattus each advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

Braun, a 6-foot-6, 342-pounder from Live Oak, Florida, earned a bachelor’s degree in classical studies from Florida in Dec. of ‘22 and a master’s of business administration from Arkansas in Dec. of ’24. He currently is working on a graduate certificate in nonprofit management at UK.

Bryant, a native of Lexington, Kentucky, started in all 12 games for the Wildcats, leading the team in total tackles (76) and interceptions (4). He also led the SEC in interceptions and ranked 24th nationally in that category.  He added 2.0 tackles for loss and a pass breakup in his stellar season, and his versatility, boosted by his baseball background, also made him one of UK’s primary punt returners. He finished the season with a team-high seven punt returns for 36 yards.

Kattus had 17 receptions for 195 yards and two touchdowns. He is one of 11 players in the FBS named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and was a semifinalist for both the Wuerffel Trophy and Campbell Trophy. He earned a degree in communication and an undergraduate certificate in business.

Laros and averaged 44.5 yards on 40 punts. He had a long of 58 yards as part of 18 kicks over 50 yards. The South African finished second on UK’s career punting average (minimum 75 punts) at 44.86 yards per punt. He had a double major in finance and accounting.
