Kentucky Women’s Golf Adds Top-50 Junior Golfer Lucy Cook
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf program and Lucy Cook have signed an agreement, it was announced by head coach Golda Borst on Wednesday. Cook, the No. 48-ranked junior golfer in the nation and the top player in the state of Mississippi in the Class of 2026, will be a part of the incoming class that will compete in fall 2026.
“I’m beyond excited to officially join the Kentucky women’s golf family,” Cook said. “Playing SEC golf has been a lifelong dream, and it’s truly surreal to see it become a reality. I look forward to growing as a player and person under such incredible coaches and alongside such talented teammates. GO CATS!”
“We are all so thrilled to add Lucy to our program,” said Borst. “She will be an integral part to our program’s continued growth and trajectory next year. I believe the pieces of the puzzle are coming together for us to be a national contender and Lucy is a big piece to that puzzle. We have waited for this day for a long time so it’s exciting to finally make it official and we are so grateful that she’s a Wildcat.”

Lucy Cook, a West Point, Mississippi, native, is ranked 48th in the Rolex American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Rankings and first in the state of Mississippi. She is in her fifth year of playing varsity golf for Oak Hill Academy, which she began when she was in eighth grade in 2021-22. She has helped her teams to four straight Midsouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) 4A State Championships.
The Wildcat has also spent time playing on the AJGA, United States Golf Association (USGA), Southeastern Junior Golf Tour (SJGT) and the Mississippi Golf Association tours.
She recently won The Bubba Conlee Golf Tournament by three shots on a 5-under-par 211 in Memphis, Tennessee, in July and the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Qualifying on a 5-under-par 67 in Hoover, Alabama, in September.
Cook also won the Mississippi Junior Amateur in both 2022 and 2024 and the Randy Watkins Junior in 2024. She also was a competitor in the 2024 and 2025 USA Girls Jr. and the 2023, 2024 and 2025 PGA National Championship.
Just last season, the junior golfer received the Frank J. Carmel Character Award at the Elite Invitational for her high character on and off the golf course. That same year, she was named the Girls 13-18 Overall Player of the Year by the Mississippi Golf Association.
Outside of her time on the golf course, Cook is in the National Honors Society and Student Government Association. She also is on the Pinelake Church Student Leadership Team and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team.
