UK Cross Country Set for Trip to Stillwater for Cowboy Jamboree
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The 2025 cross country season continues for the Kentucky Wildcats tomorrow in Stillwater, Okla., as the Cats are scheduled to compete in the Cowboy Jamboree at the Greiner Family OSU XC Course.
The Wildcats have enjoyed a strong start to the new season, with both the men’s and women’s teams finishing second and third in the first two races of 2025. Sophomore Janet Jepkemboi Amimo, coming off an impressive freshman campaign during the outdoor track season, setting two UK records and UK freshman record, highlighted the Cats’ results in the team’s previous outing by placing second in the women’s 5k event with a personal best time of 16:30.35.
Last time out, the Wildcats competed in the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala., hosted by Jacksonville State University, placing second in the men’s 8k race with 131 points and third in the women’s 5k event with 170 points. 2025 SEC Outdoor 3000m Steeplechase Champion, Collins Kiprop Kipngok, in his first race of the new cross country season, placed 10th in the men’s 8k event with a time of 23:44.17. In the first collegiate race of his career, freshman Levi Kiphurui Bachi placed just four spots behind Kipngok Kiprop in 14th with a personal best time of 23:50.81.
The Wildcats will compete against one other SEC program this week in Stillwater with the Oklahoma Sooners participating in the men’s 8k race, along with power conference opponents BYU, host Oklahoma State, Oregon, SMU and TCU.
The Cowboy Jamboree is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning at 9:15 a.m. ET, starting with the women’s 6k race, followed by the men’s 8k event at 9:50 a.m. ET.
