Kentucky Opens Weekend Series at Belmont

After navigating difficult weather conditions that forced two of its first four games to be altered, No. 23 Kentucky travels to Nashville for a weekend series at Belmont that opens Friday afternoon. The opener is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET/4 CT while both Saturday and Sunday’s games are scheduled for a 2 p.m. ET/1 CT first pitch.

All three games will be available on the UK Sports Network, with Andrew Kappes on the call but there is no live video broadcast.

The Cats (1-1) played a doubleheader on opening day, defeating Lipscomb 11-0 in seven innings in the opener before falling 3-1 in the nightcap. Senior Cole Hage led the charge offensively with five hits across the DH, while junior Luke Lawrence and senior Patrick Herrera each drove in three runs.

On the mound, the Cats held Lipscomb scoreless in 14 of 15 innings led by senior Nic McCay (5.0 scoreless innings) and senior reliever Jackson Nove (3.0 IP, 5 K). Seniors Scott Rouse, Evan Byers and Simon Gregersen each had scoreless outings as well.
