The Wildcats will host just their second ranked opponent of the season in Historic Memorial Coliseum, while the Cats have already played in three ranked contests this season.

In just the fourth game of the season, Kentucky upset No. 18/18 Louisville, 71-61, in overtime in early November. Kentucky has a 2-1 record against ranked foes in 2024-25, also taking down No. 19/19 Illinois, 76-53, on a neutral court in mid-November before falling at No. 16/15 North Carolina, 72-53, in early December.

In fact, of UK’s next two consecutive contests will be against ranked foes and Kentucky goes on the road to No. 13/12 Oklahoma on Sunday.

Despite the opponent, Kenny Brooks’ 13-person rebooted roster is making moves in the Southeastern Conference. The Wildcats are 17-2 overall and 6-1 in the league, tied for second in the league with LSU and Texas and behind South Carolina.

Of UK’s 16 wins, 17 have come by at least 10 points. In fact, all six of UK’s wins in league action have come by at least 14 points.

Kentucky is coming off a triumph over Arkansas last Sunday, 89-69, shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 46.4 percent from the arc. The Wildcats drained 13 3-pointers in the game, marking the seventh game this season they have knocked down double-digit 3-pointers.

All five starters scored at least 10 points, while Clara Strack and Teonni Key recorded their ninth and seventh double-doubles of the season. Georgia Amoore was just two assists from tacking on a third double-double for the team that night.

Kentucky’s five starters are inching their way up the national rankings.

Kentucky is currently the only team in NCAA DI to have three players with at least 43 3-pointers (Dazia Lawrence – 47, Georgia Amoore – 45, Amelia Hassett – 43); the only team in NCAA DI to have two players averaging at least 2.00 blocks per game (Clara Strack – 2.42, Teonni Key – 2.0); and the only team in NCAA DI to have two players averaging more than 9.0 rebounds per game (Clara Strack – 9.6, Amelia Hassett – 9.1) and three players averaging more than 8.6 rebounds per game (including Teonni Key – 8.6).

With a win on Thursday, it would be the program’s 500th win in Historic Memorial Coliseum. It also would help them improve their undefeated home court record this season to 12-0.

It will be the 56th all-time meeting between the two teams. Kentucky leads Alabama, 36-19, in the series. UK also leads UA, 16-7, in Lexington. Prior to splitting the last four contests, Kentucky had an 11-game win streak over Alabama from January 2015-February 2022. The Wildcats lost the last contest to the Crimson Tide, 91-74, on Jan. 28, 2024, in Tuscaloosa.
