Georgia Amoore Featured on the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List

LOS ANGELES – Georgia Amoore hauled in not one, not two, but three honors Tuesday, adding the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List to her illustrious list of midweek recognition.

The University of Kentucky women’s basketball point guard was named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List in November and was chosen as a John R. Wooden All-American in 2023-24.

The announcement comes after a hot start to Southeastern Conference action, while the graduate student also was named an Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week and the SEC Player of the Week.

In leading Kentucky past RV/RV Mississippi State and RV/RV Vanderbilt by more than 18 points each, Amoore put up her fifth and sixth straight games of scoring at least 20 points. In fact, in her first week competing in the SEC, she combined for 51 points, 10 3-pointers and 18 assists. She shot 47.2 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from the arc, while also going 7-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Through two games in conference action, the All-American Aussie is second in the league with 25.5 points per game and is first in the league with 9.0 assists per game. She and teammate Dazia Lawrence are tied for second in the league with 5.0 three-point field goals per game.

The Wildcat is leading the nation with 7.4 assists per game through 14 games this season, while she also ranks 13th in the nation in free-throw percentage (93.0), 19th in the nation in assist-turnover ratio (2.7) and 39th in the nation in three-point field goals per game (2.6).

She has put up at least 20 points in eight games this season, dished out at least seven assists in 10 games this season and knocked down at least three three-point field goals in seven games this season. In fact, she has knocked down at least seven three-point field goals in two games this season – over the stretch of three games. She is the second player in program history – joining Rhyne Howard – to log seven three-point field goals in two games in the same season.

In addition to being named to the John R. Wooden Midseason Top 25 Watch List on Tuesday, she also has been recognized on the Wade Trophy Watch List, Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Watch List and the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Watch List. She also was selected as a Preseason All-SEC First Teamer by coaches and media.
