Logan Dorsey Equalizes Match for Draw Against No. 6 Marshall
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky men’s soccer (4-5-6, 3-2-3 Sun Belt) closed out its regular season home schedule with a 1-1 draw against No. 6 Marshall (9-1-5, 4-0-4 Sun Belt).
The match celebrated Kentucky’s four seniors, Logan Dorsey, Eoin Martin, Martin Soereide and Nick Zielonka for Senior Night.
Marshall was the first team to get a point on the scoreboard with the first goal of the match in the 24th minute. Lineker Rodrigues dos Santos found an open opportunity in the Kentucky defense to give The Herd a 1-0 advantage. He was assisted by Taimu Okiyoshi and Aleksandar Vukovic. The first half of regulation expired with UK holding seven shots to MU’s four.
As time continued to run out, Dorsey found his moment to equalize the contest. Josh Gordon’s right-footed cross connected with Dorsey’s right boot to send a straight shot past the Marshall goalkeeper, Dan Rose. The goal tied up the match 1-1 in the 68’. The remainder of time on the clock did not result in another score for either program. Kentucky finished the second half with six shots to Marshall’s five.
Dorsey, the current Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week and NCAA Player of the Week, now has nine goals on the season to lead the team in the category. Meanwhile, Gordon leads the team in assists with a total of five for his sophomore statistics.
Goalkeeper Casper Mols recorded three saves and one goal against in the Friday night battle bringing his junior season record to 2-3-3.
Kentucky and Marshall hold an updated all-time series record of 12-8-5 (UK) with the first matchup taking place in 2005.
The Wildcats will set their sights on the final match of the regular season on Tuesday at Georgia State.
