Team Records and Series Information

  • Kentucky is 3-4 on the season and 1-4 in the Southeastern Conference, while Florida is 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the SEC.
  • Florida leads the series, 54-21, including 30-6 in Gainesville.

 

Next Game

  • Kentucky returns home to play Auburn on Saturday, Oct. 26. The game time is 7:45 p.m. ET and it will be televised on the SEC Network.

 

Team Notes

  • Kentucky had one more first down than Florida, 17-16. UK has won or tied the first downs in all seven games this season.
  • Kentucky has earned at least one turnover in each of its seven games this season, thanks to Kristian Story’s 63-yard interception return in the second quarter.
  • Barion Brown became the third Wildcat to return a kickoff for a touchdown at Florida, also Craig Yeast in 1998 and Derek Abney in 2002.
  • Brown’s 45-yard touchdown reception marked the fourth time in the last six games at Florida that UK has had a TD pass of at least 45 yards.

 

Player Notes

  • QB Brock Vandagriff completed 12 of his 26 passes for 165 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.
    • He also rushed eight times for 33 yards, including 11-yard long.
  • QB Gavin Wimsatt rushed four times for eight yards, including a one-yard touchdown to help Kentucky get within a touchdown of Florida in the third quarter.
    • It marked the second touchdown rushing of his Kentucky career, and the 13th of his college career.
  • WR Barion Brown caught two passes, including a 45-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, for a team-high 56 yards.
    • He also recorded his fifth-career kickoff return for a touchdown, a 99-yard runback in the second quarter.
      • His five career kickoff returns for touchdown breaks the SEC record, while he also remains the NCAA active career leader.
      • He became the first player in Kentucky history to have two games featuring a kickoff return TD and a touchdown catch of at least 45 yards.
      • Since 1976, he is one of two FBS players with at least 11 career receiving touchdowns and five kickoff return touchdowns prior to his senior season (also Tyron Carrier of Houston, 2008-10).
    • He racked up 178 all-purpose yards against Florida.
    • He has 1,437 career yards receiving, the 14th most in program history.
  • WR Dane Key led the team with four receptions, which marked his 15th straight game with at least one reception, for 48 yards.
    • He now has 1,655 career yards receiving to remain ninth on the all-time career list. He needs just seven more yards to move into eighth, which is currently occupied by Randall Cobb.
  • RB Demie Sumo-Karngbaye led the team with 10 carries for 39 yards.
  • RB Jamarion Wilcox had the longest rush of his career on a 25-yard jaunt in the second quarter, which set up Kentucky for the first touchdown of the game.
  • RB Chip Trayanum made his first appearance of the season, carrying seven times for 26 yards.
  • DB Jordan Lovett had a team-lead, career-high-tying nine total tackles, including one for loss (-2 yards).
    • In fact, he has set or tied his career high in total tackles in back-to-back games, recording nine against Vanderbilt and at Florida.
  • DB Kristian Story made his second career interception, running it back a career-high 63 yards to the Florida 11-yard line late in the second quarter.
  • LB Alex Afari Jr. and DB Zion Childress each recorded seven total tackles.
    • Afari had 2.5 tackles for loss (-11 yards), including 1.5 quarterback sacks (-9), both career highs.
    • This is the third game this season he has had at least two tackles for loss.
    • Afari also forced an incompletion with a quarterback hurry.
  • LB J.J. Weaver had three total tackles, including a half-tackle-for-loss.
    • He now has 36.5 tackles for loss in his career, which remains seventh in program history, but he needs just half-a-tackle-for-loss more to tie for third in program history.
  • K Alex Raynor moved to 14-of-15 on extra points this season, 62-of-64 on extra points in his Kentucky career and 171-of-177 in her college career.
