College Sports Communicators Tabs Alex Goff Academic All-District
LEXINGTON, Ky. – More than a month removed from his final collegiate tournament, the honors continue to amass for Kentucky men’s golf star, Alex Goff, who was named a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large selection on Tuesday.
It marks Goff’s second-consecutive year earning the award, which recognizes student-athletes achieving high academic and athletic standards in a variety of NCAA sports.
In order to be eligible for the honor in the sport of men’s golf, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have a cumulative grad point average of at least 3.50 and have competed in a minimum of 70 percent of the team’s events.
A select group of all-district honorees will advance to the national ballot, where, following a period of voting by CSC members, Men’s Academic All-America At-Large awardees will be announced on July 17.
Goff, a native of Kings Mountain, N.C., recently completed his master’s degree in business administration at UK. Prior to that, he earned his bachelor’s in business administration in finance, finishing with a GPA of 3.899.
With his outstanding play during the 2023-24 season, Goff cemented himself among the program’s elite players. He became Kentucky men’s golf’s 11th All-American selection all-time earlier this month after posting a scoring average of 70.55, the best single season mark at UK since at least 1993-94.
He was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team for the second year in a row and was also tabbed the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year at this season’s conference tournament.
Goff finished his Kentucky career with a 71.45 scoring average, the best mark at UK all-time (minimum 45 rounds) dating back to 1993-94. In 47 career events, he totaled 80 rounds of par-or-better, one win, six runner-up finishes, 16 top 10s and 30 top 20s.
