The camp staff will include the coaching staff from both the men’s and women’s golf teams, including men’s head coach Gator Todd and women’s head coach Golda Borst.
New Wildcats Head Coach Gator Todd
Gator Todd is in his first season as head coach of the Kentucky men’s golf team in 2023-24. The former professional golfer comes to Lexington from Vanderbilt, where he spent six seasons, most recently as associate head coach.
“We’re certainly excited to have Gator, Mary Katherine and Sylvie join our UK family,” Kentucky director of athletics Mitch Barnhart said. “Gator has been impressive in many ways through the evaluation process. He has a championship pedigree as a player at Alabama and experience as a professional golfer. He’s had incredible success working with Coach (Scott) Limbaugh, including a season still in progress, and has been relentless on the recruiting trail. His combination of outstanding playing and coaching career, along with his intense desire to make his home here and put UK in the national golf conversation, are a great recipe for the foundation and future of Kentucky golf.”
Working alongside head coach Scott Limbaugh, Todd helped lead VU to four top-10 finishes at the NCAA Championships, the first two NCAA Regional championships in school history and two Southeastern Conference crowns.
During Todd’s time in Nashville, the Commodores accumulated 22 regular-season and postseason tournament titles. VU totaled 18 All-Americans – including six first-team honorees – 24 All-Region selections, four SEC Players of the Year and 18 first- and second-team All-SEC choices.
Women’s Head Coach Golda Borst
Golda Borst has taken the University of Kentucky women’s golf program to new heights in her 13 seasons on the job. In addition to earning nine NCAA Regional Appearances and eight team championships, the team also broke through with a NCAA Championship Finals berth in 2021, the program’s first since 1992.
The Wildcats are coming off a historic performance in 2022-23, guided by Borst and her new hire assistant coach Will Sallee. The sensational season featured 11 school records (seven individual school records and four team school records), two team championships and one medalist honor. Those team school records include setting the single-season scoring average at 289.6 (33 rounds, 9,560 strokes), setting the 54-hole tournament total (-34, Illini Women’s Invitational) and setting the top two low 18-hole rounds (-17, NCAA Pullman Regional Round 3 and -13, Illini Women’s Invitational Round 1).
NCAA rules prohibit payment of camp expenses (camp tuition, transportation, spending money, etc…) for prospects (9th grade and above) by University of Kentucky donors. NCAA rules also prohibit free or reduced camp admissions for prospects. If you have any questions, notify camp officials prior to attending camp.
The University of Kentucky’s camps and clinics are open to any and all entrants (limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender).
Disabilities accommodated, prior notification is appreciated.
FAQ
I’m having trouble registering online can I just call the golf office and register over the phone?
No, registrations cannot be taken over the phone or in person. All registrations must be made online and paid for using a credit card. Please email jacob.cook@uky.edu or call 502-320-4577 if you are having any registration problems.
I need to cancel my registration; can I get a refund?
If you need to cancel your registration, please email jacob.cook@uky.edu to request a refund. Refunds that are approved will be less a $30 administrative fee. You can request a credit (for full amount) towards a future camp by emailing jacob.cook@uky.edu
Does my physical form have to be on the form provided, because I have a physical, but it’s on a different form?
No. You don’t have to use the medical form provided. If your medical form states that you are physically able to participate in the camp and signed by a medical doctor and less than 12 months old that will work.
My child’s physical expires right before the camp, but I don’t have an appointment to get a new physical until after the camp, and my insurance won’t allow me to get a physical any sooner, what should I do?
Call your doctors office and explain the situation, often they will be able to help you.
Physicals are performed at the Little Clinics at Kroger for only $35 (without insurance approval).
Call your insurance and ask if you got a physical before the 12-month mark if they will still cover it. Often insurances have a grace period.
What do we need to bring with us to camp?
Each camper should bring golf equipment, including sneakers AND golf shoes, golf clubs, golf bag, golf balls.
Will the campers be fed during camp?
Yes, campers will be provided lunch during the camp.
Are parents allowed to stay and watch?
Parents are welcome say hello at the registration and come back for Q&A at 2:00 PM, but we ask due to limited space in the golf house, that parents do not stay for the duration of the camp.
