Kentucky STUNT Falls to California Baptist in National Tournament
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky STUNT team lost to top-ranked California Baptist 23-8 on Saturday in the winner’s bracket of the 2024 Division I STUNT championship at Transylvania University.
Kentucky (18-7) remains in the double-elimination tournament. The Cats will face UT Martin on Sunday at noon ET. The Cats beat the Skyhawks 24-0 on Saturday.
Against CBU, in the first quarter, partner stunts, the Lancers took the first two points. However, on the final two routines, the teams tied, leaving CBU with a 4-2 lead after one quarter.
The second quarter, pyramids and tosses, began with the Lancers taking the first point. After the teams tied on the second routine, CBU won the final two points and the Lancers took an 8-3 lead into the half.
Kentucky was able to add to its point total in the third quarter, jumps and tumbling. The teams tied the first routine before CBU won the second. After a tie on the third routine, the Cats won the final routine of the period. The Lancers would lead 11-6 with one stanza remaining.
The Lancers controlled the fourth quarter, winning all 12 possible points, while UK was only able to score two.
