Kentucky STUNT Sweeps Doubleheader on Wednesday
IRVINE, Calif. – The Kentucky STUNT team started its trip to California with a pair of wins on Wednesday night, topping Vanguard 21-8 and Concordia-Irvine 21-10 in Irvine.
Kentucky (13-5) started off the first quarter against Vanguard, partner stunts, by winning the first point. The teams tied the second routine before UK won the final two points of the period, building a 4-1 lead.
The Cats dominated the second quarter, pyramids and tosses. Kentucky took all four points in the quarter and held Vanguard scoreless. UK led 8-1 at halftime.
In the third quarter, jumps and tumbling, Kentucky continued to extend its lead. The Cats won the first point, with the teams tying on the second routine. UK took the third point before Vanguard won the last point of the quarter. UK led 11-3 heading into the final stanza.
In the fourth quarter, team routine, the Cats earned 10 points in the quarter, while Vanguard claimed five.
Kentucky faced the host team, Concordia-Irvine in game two and the Cats came away with a 21-10 win.
In the first quarter, the Cats took the first point and the teams tied on the second routine. UK took the third point and the teams tied on the fourth routine, leaving the Cats with a 4-2 lead after one period.
Kentucky built its lead in the second quarter, pyramids and tosses. The Cats won all four points while Concordia-Irvine was unable to score. UK led 8-1 at the half.
In the third quarter, jumps and tumbling, Kentucky won the first two points before the teams tied the final two routines. UK led 12-3 after three quarters.
Kentucky sealed the deal in the final period, team routine. The Cats scored nine points compared to just six for Concordia.
Kentucky returns to action on Friday in the Joust at California Baptist. The Cats face Cal Poly at 8 p.m. ET and Arizona State at 9 p.m. ET.
