How It Happened

• Kentucky trailed Ole Miss, 20-7, at the end of the first quarter, as UK experienced trouble making shots on 14.2 percent to start the game.
  • The Wildcats turned the ball over seven times in that period, giving up eight points on those miscues.
  • UK also allowed UM to go on a 10-0 run for more than three minutes in the middle of the first quarter.
• The Rebels only outscored the Wildcats, 17-15, in the second quarter.
  • Kentucky didn’t allow Ole Miss to go on a run more than two baskets in that period, as it improved its scoring efforts to 35.5 percent.
    • The two teams traded quarter-high, 5-0 runs in the final five minutes of the half.
  • Kentucky stretched its 5-0 run from before the half into a 9-0 run to start the third quarter, cutting its deficit to just 11 points. Meanwhile, UK kept UM scoreless for the first two minutes and 40 seconds of the third quarter.
    • The two teams traded baskets for the next several possessions, as UK maintained that 11-point deficit during that stretch.
      • However, UM used a 3-pointer at 4:52 in the third quarter to launch a 17-0 run down the stretch.
    • The Wildcats trailed the Rebels, 60-32, at the end of the third quarter.
  • Despite the two teams having balanced scoring in the final period, the gap was too much for Kentucky to overcome.
    • Kentucky lost to Ole Miss, 75-45.
