Kentucky STUNT Comes Up Short at Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kentucky STUNT team fell to the nation’s top-ranked Division II team, Davenport, 20-13 on Sunday.

In the first quarter, partner stunts, Davenport scored the first two points to grab an early lead. The teams tied on the final two routines of the period, leaving the Panthers with a 4-2 advantage through one quarter.

Kentucky (5-4) won the first point of the second quarter, pyramids and tosses. The teams tied on the second routine and Davenport took the final two points. The Panthers led 7-4 at halftime.

In the third quarter, jumps and tumbling the teams were very evenly matched. Three routines ended in ties, with Davenport taking the other point and building an 11-7 lead.

The fourth quarter, team routine, began with both teams earning two points on the first routine. Davenport would win the next three points and would go on to the win.

Kentucky returns to action on March 9 and 10 in the UT Martin Tournament in Martin, Tennessee. The Cats will play four games over the course of two days in the event, taking on Maryville twice, UT Martin and Fontbonne.
