Kentucky, Missouri Battle on We Back Pat Day on Sunday at Rupp Arena
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program will play host to Missouri on Sunday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. ET at Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center. It will mark the program’s annual We Back Pat game, which aims to bring awareness to research, care and education about Alzheimer’s disease.
The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+, with Jeff Piecoro and Christi Thomas on the call. Big Blue Nation also can listen in to the play-by-play on UK Sports Network and / or 630 AM WLAP (locally), with the Voice of the Wildcats, Darren Headrick on the mic.
The Wildcats are 8-10 this season, including 1-3 in Southeastern Conference action and 8-3 in home games. The Cats are averaging 65.3 points per game and 33.3 rebounds per game. They are led in both scoring and rebounding by senior forward Ajae Petty, a Baltimore, Maryland, native, who is recording 15.7 points per game and 10.9 rebounds per game. Senior guard Maddie Scherr is close behind, recording 14.5 points per game and 3.9 rebounds per game. The two are also steal machines, as Petty leads with 24 through her 18 games and Scherr adds 23 through her 14 games played in 2023-24.
Kentucky leads Missouri in the all-time series, 11-5, while UK also leads in games played in Lexington, 7-0. The two teams have never matched up in Rupp Arena.
Missouri is 11-7 this season, including 2-3 in the SEC and 2-3 in road games. The Tigers are ranked second in the league in both three-point field goals per game (8.8) and three-point field-goal percentage (36.6). They’re also first in the league in free-throw percentage (75.0) and third in the league in field-goal percentage (45.9). They’re led in scoring (16.9) and rebounding (6.8) by graduate forward Hayley Frank.
