LEXINGTON, Kentucky – Alex Goff, a graduate student on the Kentucky men’s golf team, has earned Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week honors, the conference office announced Wednesday. Goff shares the recognition with Vanderbilt’s Jackson Van Paris and South Carolina’s Frankie Harris.
Goff went 70-65-71 to lock in his third share of second finish in four tournaments. The 10-under-par 206 finished one shot back of individual medalist honors and his second round 7-under-65 was one back of his career low. The Kings Mountain, North Carolina, native leads the Cats and ranks fourth in the SEC with a 69.36 scoring average this season, to go along with nine of 11 rounds under par. Goff has posted a top-10 finish in nine of his last 11 tournaments dating back to last season, finishing solo second or a tie for second in six of those.
To date, Goff has posted the Wildcats’ best career scoring average at 71.50, ahead of current UK assistant Chip McDaniel’s 72.02 average.
Kentucky is now off until it opens its spring schedule Feb. 5-6 at the Battle at Briar’s Creek in Johns Island, South Carolina.
