Team Records and Series Notes 

• The University of Kentucky women’s basketball program is about to begin its 50th season next Tuesday.
  • UK has an 894-588 (.632) all-time record, just six wins away from 900.
• Kyra Elzy is beginning her fourth season as the head coach of the Wildcats, holding a 49-40 (.551) overall record.
• The Wildcats will be playing majority of their games in Rupp Arena at Central Bank Center this season.
  • The Cats have a 30-22 (.577) all-time home record in the historic building.

• Kentucky will officially begin its season against ETSU on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. ET at the Clive M. Beck Center (Transylvania University).

How It Happened

• Kentucky led Kentucky State, 24-13, at the end of the first quarter.
  • Kentucky earned a 7-0 run to end the period, which Saniah Tyler capped on a long 3-pointer. Just before that, Ajae Petty had back-to-back layups, the second of which included her forcing a turnover, then dishing it out to Amiya Jenkins, who passed it back to Petty for the layup.

• • • Ajae Petty was 7-of-7 in the first quarter, adding six rebounds and two steals.

• The Wildcats increased their lead over the Thorobreds at halftime, 45-31.

• • The Cats shot 53.6 percent (15-of-28) in the first half, led by Ajae Petty’s 8-of-8 from the field.
  • The Cats led the Thorobreds on the boards, 20-14.
  • The Cats added 12 assists and five steals in the first half.

• By the end of the third quarter, the score was 70-49, Kentucky.
  • In that period, UK scored a quarter-high 25 points on a quarter-high 61.1 percent (11-of-18).

• • • Emma King led the effort with six points on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting in just seven minutes.

• • UK shared the ball well in the third quarter, too, with seven different players recording an assist and seven different players scoring.

• Eniya Russell took command of the fourth quarter, scoring eight points alone on 4-of-5 from the field, adding one rebound, one block and committing just one turnover.
  • Freshmen Jordy Griggs and Janae Walker made their unofficial college debuts, entering the exhibition game in the fourth quarter.
• Kentucky defeated Kentucky State, 88-71.
