SIMPSONVILLE, Kentucky – Four members of the Kentucky men’s golf team teed it up Monday at the Cardinal Individual Collegiate at University of Louisville Golf Club. Sophomore Kevin Watts led the way in a tie for 11th at 2-over-par.
Watts, from Colleyville, Texas, opened with a 1-over-par 73 with four birdies against five bogeys before matching that score in the afternoon with four birdies, three bogeys and a double.
Freshman Michael Hake followed in a tie for 14th at 4-over. The Brentwood, Tennessee, native carded an eagle and a birdie against five bogeys for 2-over-par 74. In the afternoon, Hake notched five birdies against four bogeys but was undone by a triple on the par-5 13th on his way to another 2-over 74.
Fifth year Jackson LaLonde and senior Tanner Parks finished 21st and 22nd, respectively. LaLonde had a difficult morning with a 13-over 85 but bounced back with a 3-over 75 in his second round. Conversely, Parks opened with a 3-over 75 but struggled in the afternoon, carding a 14-over 86.
Kentucky is back on the course starting Saturday at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational in Loxley, Alabama.
