• Four-year starter and letter winner at linebacker for head coach Jay Fallin at Owensboro High School
• Totaled 112 tackles, including 41 solo and three tackles for loss in helping the Red Devils finish 12-1 and advance to their first KHSAA Class 5A State Championship since 2014
• Named first-team All-State by the Associated Press and was the Owensboro Times Defensive Player of the Year in 2020
• Selected second-team All-State as a junior, despite missing eight games due to injury
• Broke Owensboro’s single-season tackles mark as a sophomore with 141 and the all-time tackles record with 413
• Also named first-team All-State by the AP in 2018,  one of only two sophomores selected to the team
• Chose Kentucky over Southern Illinois, Austin Peay, and Southeast Missouri State
• An all-around athlete also lettering three years in baseball as a catcher and one season as a shot put and discus thrower on the track & field team
• Four-time Academic All-State member
• Elected class president as a freshman and sophomore

Austin Says

• His nickname is “A.G.”
• He chose Kentucky because it’s home and was the best fit to help him reach his goals
• Other than playing in the NFL, his dream job is to be in medical sales
• Most people don’t know that he participated in ballet as a kid
• Besides football, he’s also good at drawing
