2008 (Junior): Outdoor – Won NCAA National Title in men’s discus with throw of 198-8 on his first attempt of the finals … Became first field event NCAA Outdoor Champion in school history … Claimed first Kentucky NCAA individual event championship in track and field since 1996 … Posted a personal best discus throw of 203-4 at U.S. Olympic Trials to finish fifth in the finals … The throw ranks third all-time at UK as he became just the third Wildcat to throw over 200 feet joining former Olympian Mike Buncic and teammate Chase Madison … At NCAA Championships placed eighth overall in shot put with heave of 60-0.25 … Won Mideast Regional discus title with outdoor season-best mark of 199-10 and automatically advance to NCAA Championships … Earned at large bid to NCAAs with personal-best shot put throw of 62-1.25 earlier in the year at the Sea Ray Relays that ranks sixth all-time in school history.
