Stephen P. Ward comes to Lexington from Duke University where he has served as the volunteer assistant coach since November 2021.

While on the Blue Devils staff, he helped lead the women’s tennis program to an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship in 2022 and a 23-5 overall record, culminating in the Team reaching the NCAA Final Four. Ward was also part of the Duke Team that reached the NCAA Round of 16 in 2023. He has served as the founder and director of instruction at 5 Zone Tennis Academy in Durham, N.C.

In addition to coaching the Blue Devils, Ward has been a member of the North Carolina State University (ACC) men’s tennis coaching staff, served in the office of player development with the New York Rangers (NHL), and has been the Head of Tennis Instruction at Hope Valley Country Club in Durham, N.C.

Ward received his BBA in finance from The College of William and Mary where he finished top 5 all-time in singles victories and top 10 in doubles. Upon graduation, Ward won 11 titles on the French Federation of Tennis (FFT) circuit, and represented La Baule (FR) in Club play. Stephen received his M.B.A from Fordham University in NYC.
