Kyle Luongo will enter his second season as the Kentucky Volleyball Associate Head Coach in 2026. He is responsible for the Wildcats offense and setters – and in his first season with UK helped guide the Wildcats to an NCAA National Championship match appearance and freshman setter Kassie O’Brien to NCAA National Freshman of the Year.

Luongo worked at TCU from 2020-2025 helping with TCU’s film breakdown and serving as the lead opposition scouter for the Horned Frogs. He additionally was critical to the TCU recruiting efforts and worked with all positions, specializing in setters. This past season, he helped steer TCU to a 22-8 record and a 13-5 mark in the Big 12 as the Horned Frogs marched into the NCAA Tournament second round.

“What an honor for my family and I to join the Kentucky volleyball program.” Luongo said. “We are thrilled to serve this program and give our all to this team. The opportunity to work alongside Craig and his staff as we continue to elevate Kentucky volleyball is something I am very excited about. Very quickly in this process I fell in love with what this program is about and I can’t wait to contribute. Go Cats!”

He is actively involved with USA Volleyball and the club circuit on top of his duties he performed with the Horned Frogs and now Wildcats. Luongo served as the head coach of the North Texas All-Star Team at the 2022 USA Volleyball All-Star Championships. He first familiarized himself with the Texas club volleyball scene in 2021, serving as the assistant director with the Austin Skyline Juniors Volleyball Club.

“Kyle brings a wealth of experience to Kentucky after his coaching stints at TCU and Pepperdine,” UK head coach Craig Skinner said. “He played for Pepperdine as setter, under the direction of USA’s legendary volleyball coach, Marv Dunphy. Kyle comes highly recommended from everyone we talked to and was very thorough in his preparation for the job. It became clear in the interview process that Kyle checked the boxes we were looking for. We are thrilled to welcome Kyle to Lexington!”As a student-athlete, Luongo was the starting setter for Pierce College from 2006-07. He led the squad to the state finals as a freshman and followed with a semifinal appearance during his sophomore year. He transferred to Pepperdine prior to the 2008 season, where he was a part of three a trio of top-five teams.

Luongo graduated from Pepperdine in 2010 with a degree in sports medicine. He and his wife, Melissa, have two daughters, Hannah and Harper, and son, Noah.
