No. 19 Texas A&M Snaps No. 4 Kentucky’s Home Court Winning Streak
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The No. 19 Texas A&M Aggies became the first team in 2026 to sweep No. 4 Kentucky on Sunday afternoon, beating the Wildcats 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21) to snap the nation’s longest home court winning streak at 30 games.
Kentucky has now lost back-to-back games in the Southeastern Conference for the first time since 2015 and lost its first home match since a sweep by Texas in 2024. The Wildcats are now 15-5 on the season and sit 7-3 in the SEC. The three losses for UK mark the first time since 2016 that UK has lost three or more league matches.
The Wildcats hit just .163 for the match, a new season low with Texas A&M clipping the ball at a .229 rate and siding out at over 60 percent for the match in all three sets, including at 80 percent in the third and decisive set. Kentucky had a season-low 35 kills Sunday paced by Brooklyn DeLeye’s 14 to lead all UK players in the match.
Kentucky will next play Missouri on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET. The match will be broadcasted live on SEC Network+ and the ESPN app.
Set One
The first set was a set of runs as the Aggies jumped out to a 9-3 lead and on a 4-0 run, pushed the Wildcats into an early timeout. The lead for A&M grew to seven at 10-3 and that lead kept in tact to the media timeout at 15-8 with Texas A&M in front. After the media break, UK went on a 4-0 run, its largest run of the set to that point, to make things 15-12 and A&M burned its first timeout. Out of the stoppage it was the Aggies turn to push a run on UK as a 4-0 run made things 19-13 and Kentucky called its final timeout. UK would use a service run by Asia Thigpen to close the gap to two points at 19-17, the closest UK had been since it was 2-0, but the Aggies ran off five of the next six points to close the set at 25-20 on a UK service error. Texas A&M hit .300 with six kills for Kyndal Stowers and Brooklyn DeLeye’s five kills led the way for Kentucky who hit .205 in the set as a team.
Set Two
Texas A&M won set two, 25-23 to mark the first time all season that UK has fallen down to sets to none. Kentucky took its first lead of the match at 7-6 in the set, but Texas A&M responded by winning the next three points to pick up a multi-point lead in the set. The media timeout came with Texas A&M on a 4-1 run and the Aggies took a 15-13 lead into the timeout. Texas A&M led 17-14 to push the Wildcats into a timeout and UK again needed a timeout at 23-20 with the Aggies on the doorstep of the set. Texas A&M called timeout with UK within one at 23-22 and again at 24-23 and TAMU sided out to close the set. Texas A&M hit .136 in the set to UK’s .267 and still won the frame.
