LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s and women’s swimming and diving squads will both go to Atlanta to compete in The Dual Tournament on Friday and Saturday, a new collegiate meet that features a bracket format and is hosted by Georgia Tech at the McAuley Aquatic Center. The Wildcats are guaranteed three meets throughout the two-day event and they will first take on Penn State at 11:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Other then Penn State, the Wildcats are joined by Auburn, Florida State, George Wasington, Georgia Tech, Minnesota, and South Carolina.
After the matchup against the Nittany Lions on Friday, Kentucky will take on either Auburn or George Washington. Since the meet is bracket style, Saturday’s meet is TBD on opponent and time of competition.
In the pool, Kentucky is coming off their first official dual-meet of the season where both the men and women fell to Florida on Oct. 2 at the Lancaster Aquatic Center. Although a tough loss, there were many bright spots for the future of Kentucky swimming and diving.
Many of the returners swam great, but it was the newcomers that shocked a lot of the results against Florida. Freshmen Filippo Bertoni, Gabrielle Idle-Beavers, Valeria Tarin, and Felix Dressel-de Bruyn were among a few to name that saw big performances in Lexington and set the tone for what the Wildcats hope to see for the rest of the season.
The Wildcats are striving for their best this weekend at The Dual Meet Tournament and want to enjoy the new style of event. This weekend, fans can follow along live results on the Meet Mobile App or here, and can watch the meet live on ACCNX in the primary/diving pool or YouTube for the secondary pool.
