LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team (7-5-1, 3-2-1 SEC) will travel to Auburn, Ala., to play the Auburn Tigers (8-2-3, 4-2-0 SEC) at the Auburn Soccer Complex on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed on SEC Network+.
In their most recent meeting on Oct. 18, 2024, the two teams remained scoreless, ending in a 0-0 draw. The Tigers own the all-time series record over the Cats, going 13-11-5 over three decades. The last time Kentucky defeated Auburn was in 2014, when they faced each other in the SEC Tournament. In the current SEC standings, Auburn sits in fourth with 12 points while Kentucky is tied at fifth with Mississippi State with 10 points.
So far this campaign, the Wildcats have earned a record of 7-5-1, including a conference mark of 3-2-1. Last time out, Kentucky upset No. 25 Texas at home after overcoming a 2-0 deficit in the first half. The next 45 minutes consisted of Wildcat dominance. Sophomore Rayna Powers recorded the first goal of her collegiate career, placing a header in the net off an assist from freshman Elise Ernest. Ernest continued to contribute, nabbing another header in the 65th minute thanks to a cross from junior defender Michelle Moskau. In the 89th minute, freshman Kyla Dawn pushed Kentucky ahead with an unassisted strike into the bottom of the net. The Wildcats held the single-goal advantage until time expired.
For her play, Ernest was crowned SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday, Oct. 12. This is the third time the honor was picked up by a Wildcat, with Kyla Dawn supplying the other two. Dawn currently ranks 16th in the nation in total goals with 10, the most by any freshman in the NCAA. In the conference, the Dallas native places third in both goals and points (22).
Also contributing at a high level is senior midfielder Nadia Ramadan. The transfer from Alabama has started in every single match, scoring seven goals for the Wildcats. The consistent core for Kentucky is led by Katherine Truitt, Michelle Moskau, Juliette Rayo and Lexi Tylenda, who each have started in every match and recorded over 1,000 minutes of play this campaign. Goalkeeper Megan Holland is also a member of the 1,000+ minutes recorded quad, posting 38 saves and a shutout on the year.
As a team, Kentucky ranks in the top 15 nationally in three key offensive categories: scoring offense (7th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 2.77), total goals (9th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 36) and corner kicks per game (14th NCAA, 2nd SEC, 7.46).
Auburn has earned an overall record of 8-2-3 with a 4-2-0 mark in SEC play. The Tigers are coming off a ranked win over No. 20 Oklahoma, defeating the Sooners on the road, 2-0. Fifth-year Dylan Driver is the leading scorer for Auburn, recording six goals and two assists on the year. On the defensive end, junior Ayana Yapo has been a force for the Tigers, leading the nation in shutouts with nine and boasting the best goals-against average in the NCAA (.237).
