Mitchell Moorer Named UK Executive Associate AD for Player Management
LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky Athletics has named Mitchell Moorer as Executive Associate Athletics Director for Player Management, UK Athletics Director and Champions Blue CEO J Batt announced Friday.
In this newly established leadership role, Moorer will help guide Kentucky’s player management strategy across all sports, leading efforts related to student-athlete management, roster development, revenue-sharing and name, image and likeness (NIL) opportunities while ensuring compliance with relevant governance regulations.
Moorer will work closely with administration, staff, coaches and student-athletes to ensure Kentucky remains at the forefront of the rapidly evolving college athletics landscape.
“We’ve made building a comprehensive player management strategy a priority since arriving at Kentucky,” Batt said. “In this rapidly changing era of college athletics, the ability to effectively build teams, manage resources and create competitive advantages has never been more important.
“Mitchell’s experience across college and professional sports, athlete representation and the legal profession makes him uniquely qualified to lead those efforts. This is a significant addition to our leadership team and another important step in positioning Kentucky for long-term success.”
Moorer joins Kentucky after serving as Executive Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Management and Administration at Michigan State since August 2025, following previous roles in athlete representation, corporate law and professional football.
“I am incredibly grateful to the University of Kentucky and J Batt for this opportunity,” Moorer said. “Kentucky has a proud tradition, passionate fan base and a clear vision for pursuing success. The commitment to investing in player management as a priority necessary to continue competing at the highest level was evident throughout this process.
“I look forward to collaborating with our coaches, staff and student-athletes as we build systems and strategies that create opportunities, support achievement and position Kentucky for sustained success in this changing era.”
In his role at Michigan State, he served on the leadership team focusing on player management, performance analysis, legal and contractual matters. He also oversaw the administration of institutional benefits following the House settlement and worked across the department to develop effective solutions while ensuring compliance with governance regulations.
Before Michigan State, he was a vice president at SportsTrust Advisors, where, as an NFLPA-certified agent, he negotiated more than $1.3 billion in NFL contracts. In that role, he worked extensively on player contracts, marketing agreements, NIL opportunities and strategic career planning while helping ensure compliance with NFL, NFLPA and NCAA regulations.
Prior to SportsTrust, Moorer practiced business and corporate law as an associate attorney at Manier & Herod. He also gained professional football experience as a Salary Cap and Legal Analyst with the Philadelphia Eagles and held roles at the NFL league office, the Southeastern Conference, Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns.
A former two-sport student-athlete, Moorer earned eight varsity letters in football and track and field at Sewanee. He later earned both a law degree and MBA from the University of Alabama.
He will begin working in Lexington later this month.
