LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky women’s soccer team (6-5-1, 2-2-1 SEC) will battle the No. 25 Texas Longhorns (7-2-3, 2-1-2 SEC) at the Bell Soccer Complex on Friday, Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed on SEC Network+.

The last time the two teams met was Sept. 13, 2009, when the Longhorns defeated the Wildcats 2-0. Texas and Kentucky have only faced each other twice, with Texas owning the all-time series record of 2-0-0. The Cats are tied for eighth in the conference standings with seven points while the Longhorns are tied for sixth with eight points.

So far this campaign, the Wildcats have earned a 6-5-1 record, including a 2-2-1 mark in conference play. In its most recent match, Kentucky fell to No. 3 Vanderbilt, 2-0, on the road. Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Holland tied her career high for saves in a single match, recording five on the night.

Kentucky currently ranks in the top-15 nationally and in the top-3 in the SEC in three key categories: total goals (10th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 33), scoring offense (13th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 2.75) and corner kicks per game (14th NCAA, 3rd SEC, 7.42).

Freshman Kyla Dawn has earned some recognition for her elite play, winning SEC Freshman of the Week twice already this season. The Dallas native heads the team in overall points (20), goals (9), assists (2) and shots on goal (16), ranking among the best in the country through 12 games.

Also contributing at a high level is senior midfielder Nadia Ramadan. The transfer from Alabama has started in every single match, scoring seven goals for the Wildcats. The consistent core for Kentucky is led by Katherine Truitt and Michelle Moskau, who each have recorded over 1,000 minutes of play this campaign.

Texas currently boasts an overall record of 7-2-3, going 2-1-2 in the SEC. Last time out, the Longhorns earned a 2-1 comeback victory over then-ranked No. 21 Oklahoma. Junior Amalia Villarreal recorded a brace to give her team the win, including a game-winner in the 82nd minute. For her performance, Villarreal was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 5.

The match is themed as Pink Out to honor breast cancer awareness month. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the event and make cards for local hospitals.
