Kentucky Women’s Golf Among Strong Field at The Ally
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team is bringing Lucy Cook, a freshman from West Point, Mississippi, home to compete in her own backyard this week. The Wildcats will take on the strong field at The Ally hosted at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point from Oct. 5-7.
The field is as talented as it gets for a regular-season tournament, which features 17 teams, including five teams in the national rankings and two receiving votes.
Those 17 teams are No. 3 Florida, No. 19 Mississippi State, No. 20 Ole Miss, No. 21 Vanderbilt, No. 25 Oklahoma State, RV Kentucky, RV Virginia Tech, Indiana, Augusta, Mercer, Georgia Southern, Lipscomb, TCU, JMU, Louisiana Monroe, Jacksonville State University and Southern Miss.
Along with Cook, who’s home course is Old Waverly, the Wildcats’ lineup also includes senior Cathryn Brown and juniors C.A. Carter, Isabella Johnson and Karlie Campbell. The Cats, who are deeper than in recent years, have turned in a different lineup through three events thus far in 2026-27.
Campbell, the team captain and an Ethridge, Tennessee, native, will compete in her first lineup this fall after battling injury to begin the season. She was instrumental in the team’s national championship run last May.
Kentucky, led by the low-scoring veteran Brown, has already produced one team championship and one individual championship this season, hauling in each championship crown at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, in late-September.
Brown, an Eddyville, Kentucky, native, was named Southeastern Conference Golfer of the Week for her career-best, 10-under-par 206 at the Bettie Lou, which brought her the first 54-hole individual championship of her college career.
She didn’t act alone, though, as three players finished in the top five – Brown, Johnson and Carter – and four players finished in the top 15 – also Cook. That was en route to the team earning the third-best, 54-hole team total in program history 839 (-25).
UK’s lineup for this coming week includes each of those four players who produced so much success at the Bettie Lou.
